Lots of people prefer to wake up to music or fall asleep to music. Your toddler will also enjoy starting or ending every day with a song. Here's a few ideas:

  • Find a song that the whole family likes to sing, since you’ll be hearing it or singing it every day!
  • End the day with a peaceful lullaby to help soothe your toddler and get him ready to sleep.
  • You can also adopt “theme songs” to help your toddler recognize what’s happening in his day. For example, “The Clean-Up Song” lets your child know it's time to clean up, and “Singing in the Rain” lets your child know it's raining outside.

Ask your librarian or child educator for song ideas or search for them online. Remember: You can sing songs with your child in the car, while you do errands, while you play at the playground, while you're on a walk, and just about anywhere!
