Make a treasure basket or box for your baby. Fill it with objects that your baby will wonder about, such as a ring of keys, lengths of satin ribbon, a clean sponge, a wire whisk, wooden spoons, a leather glove, or other items with different colors, textures, and shapes.

  • Fix a comfortable place for her to explore and discover the objects on her own. Your baby can explore inside or outside. If you go outside, just place the basket on a blanket on the ground and let her explore as you stay close by.
  • Sit nearby in case she wants to share her treasure with you. Let her discover for herself what each object can do and what she can do with it, then talk with her about her discoveries.

Periodically change some of the things in the basket so she’s always finding new treasure!
