STEM
Children will:
- Understand that there are many different types of plants
- Understand that plants grow in different ways, including from different seeds and bulbs
- Observe and describe the characteristics of seeds and bulbs and compare the characteristics of different plants
- Recognize that plants need water and light to grow
- Begin to identify parts of plants including roots, stems, and leaves
- Begin to understand that some parts of plants are below the ground; other parts are above the ground
- Understand that plants grow in places where they get their needs met
- Make observations about trees and plants outdoors
- Understand that measurement is a way of getting information about plants
- Understand that you can measure with nonstandard measurement tools
- Graph to record findings; Measure with nonstandard measuring tools
- Understand that fruits contain the seeds of the plants they come from
