Children will:

Understand that there are many different colors
Learn that two or more colors can be combined to make a new color
Understand that a single color can have different shades from very light to very dark
Learn that mixing white paint with a color of paint makes a lighter shade of the same color; mixing black paint to a color makes a darker shade of the same color
Classify and sort objects by color; compare and contrast colors
Begin to understand that objects appear to be a different color when viewed through a colored transparent material
Begin to understand that the color of light appears differently after passing through a transparent colored material
Make predictions about changes in color and confirm predictions
Share ideas and record observations
