Classroom Close-Up

“My friend and I took a long walk around the neighborhood, looking for the best place for me to take the kids to see shapes and structures. I was surprised to find so many things . . . things I’d passed before but never really looked at. For example, I’d never noticed that a little craft shop had a round window! As we began to note the many rectangular widows and triangular roofs, I knew the kids would enjoy pointing out shapes to me. We discovered new construction about to start down the road from the school. The bad news . . . there will be noise and more traffic. But the good news is that the kids will get to see bulldozers and other construction tools and machines. And they’ll get to watch a building rise! We’ll check it out . . . often.”
