Have children draw a picture of their family or a family they are close to and identify the people in the picture.

“Favorite” Book Game

Have children work in pairs or small groups.  Ask one child to choose his or her “favorite” book from the class library and “read” to the other children.

Favorite Sounds

Have children draw pictures about their favorite sounds.  Ask questions about their drawings and write what they tell you under their picture.

Have children draw something that makes a favorite sound.  Ask children to dictate a caption. Tape all the pages together to create a class book.

Feel the Music

Play a piece of music and have children talk about how the music makes them feel.  Ask them to draw how they feel.
