Getting Started
This week children will continue to explore the tools and materials used for building structures, and they will begin to focus on building towers of their own. As they build, they will explore the strength and stability of structures. Children will:
- Use different materials to build towers
- Investigate ways of building structures higher and stronger
- Watch the PEEP and the Big Wide World episode “Chirp Builds a Nest” to deepen understanding of the science concepts introduced during the week
- Listen to a southwestern adaptation of the classic tale The Three Little Pigs to learn more about what materials make a building strong
- Make connections between different versions of texts of the same topic
- Learn about tools and how people use tools by listening to the book Tap Tap Bang Bang
- Revisit the Between the Lions “Huff and Puff” video
- Be introduced to the letter “Tt,” the letter sound /t/, and the word tool
