Fruit and Vegetable Still Life

Have children make a still life painting of a fruit or vegetable. Encourage them to carefully observe the shape and color of their plant.

Greeting Song: “Clapping All Our Names” #1

Sing the greeting song and clap the syllables in each child’s name.

Greeting Song: “Clapping All Our Names” #2

Sing the greeting song. Hold up a name card as child claps word parts in his or her name. Repeat until every child is included.

Say the chant and signal to a child to clap his or her name. Then have everyone clap the name. Repeat until every child is included.

Greeting Song: “Hello, Hello, Everyone” #1

Sing the greeting song and signal a child. Have child say his or her name and as the group claps out the name parts. Repeat until every child is included.

Pull a name out of a suitcase. Have that child say his or her favorite fruit or vegetable and clap the word parts. Repeat until every child is included.

Sing the greeting song and have each child say and clap his or her name.

Sing the greeting song, hold up three name cards and greet those children by name. Repeat until every child is included.

Sing the song and have three children find their name cards. Repeat until every child is included.

Sing the song and signal a child to hold up his or her name card. Repeat until all children have been recognized.

Sing the song and hold up a name card. Have that child clap the syllables in his or her name. Repeat until every child has had a turn.
