Family Connection: Unit 5, Week 4, #3

Send children home with any drawings and photographs from their explorations this week.

“Favorite” Book Game

Have children work in pairs or small groups.  Ask one child to choose his or her “favorite” book from the class library and “read” to the other children.

Fish for Letters (down)

Display the down word card and identify the letters in the word. Let children take turns fishing for the letters in down.

Identify the letters in hill. Fish for the letters in the word hill and arrange the letters to match the word on the word card.

Have children make their own information books about wheels.

Sit in a circle and recite the chant, “I Have a Good Friend.” Roll a ball to each child calling him/her by name.

Have children recognize their name as they recite a greeting chant along with you.

Sing the greeting song with children and clap word parts in each child’s name.

Sing the greeting song as you clap out the syllables in each child's name.

Have each child name something they can do and sing the greeting song as the child acts out the motion.

Have children recognize their name as others chant the name and cheer “Hooray!” for each child.

Clap out the parts of children’s names as you recite the chant. Repeat until each child’s name has been recited.

Sing the greeting song and signal to one child and have the whole class greet him or her.

Hold up a name card in the last line of the greeting song "Will You Be A Friend Of Mine" and have everyone greet that child.
