STEM
Children will:
- Begin to understand that there are many different colors
- Begin to understand that every color has many different shades from very light to very dark
- Compare and contrast shades of color
- Begin to understand that diluting colored water with clear water creates a lighter shade of the same color
- Begin to understand cause and effect through experimenting with color
ELA
Children will:
- Recognize, match, and form uppercase and lowercase “Cc” (Alphabet Knowledge)
- Begin to ask and answer questions about a read-aloud story (Comprehension)
- Learn to make connections between their lives and stories (Comprehension)
- Begin to understand the roles of author and illustrator (Concepts of Print)
- Listen to stories read aloud (Listening and Speaking)

- Listen to, develop an understanding of meaning, and use new concept vocabulary words including color, dark, light, and shade.

Children will:
- Listen to and learn to follow directions
- Begin to build their concept of self as they say their names and recognize them in print
- Recognize that being part of a community is being able to work together and take turns
- Begin to understand how to share and discuss their work as they build confidence in their own abilities
