Letter Shaping (“Yy”)

Have children use various materials to form the letter “Yy.”

Letter Sort (“Yy”)

Spread magnetic letters on a cookie sheet and have children sort the letters by shape.

Decorate (“Yy”)

Distribute a large yellow uppercase and lowercase letter "Yy” to each child to decorate.

Our Book of Color

Have children draw an object of their favorite color and create a "Favorite Color" group book. 

Build a Structure

Have children work in pairs to build a structure of colored blocks.

Independent and Partner Reading, Unit 2, Week 2

Children choose a book about color and read the words and pictures on their own or with a buddy.

One-on-One Reading: Is It Red? Is It Yellow? Is It Blue? #4

Read Is It Red? Is It Yellow? Is It Blue? to children and invite them to name and match colors.

Color Hunt

Divide children into two teams and have each team look for items of a specific color.

Color Match

Have children copy patterns of colored beads, and then create their own patterns.

Letter Molds (“Yy”)

Have children press uppercase and lowercase “Yy” letter molds into sand.

Have children watch the video poem Between the Lions "Yellow," and name the yellow objects in the poem.

Make a Book About Yellow

Have children make a book about yellow as they fill the pages with drawings of objects that are yellow.
