Letter Shaping (“Oo”)

Display the letter “Oo” card and show children how to use various materials to shape the uppercase and lowercase letters.

Letter Sort (“Oo”) and (“Ss”)

Use the Letter Sort Routine to help children distinguish letter shapes and recognize the shape of the letters “Oo” and “Ss.”

Winter Scene

 Invite children to use the materials to create their own winter scenes.

Bear Cave Sounds

Invite children to recreate a bear habitat using blocks. Talk about where bears live and the sounds they might hear.

Independent and Partner Reading, Unit 3, Week 3

Encourage children to select a book that interests them and to look at the words and pictures on their own or with other children.

One-on-One Reading: Bear Snores On #2

Read aloud Bear Snores On to individuals or small groups. Use illustrations, gestures, and sounds to help children understand unfamiliar words.

Let the Show Begin!

Encourage small groups of children to put on their own play of a scene from Oscar and the Bat

Sort Loud and Quiet Animal Sounds

Have children work together to sort toy animals or pictures of animals into those that make loud sounds and those that make soft sounds.

Divvy Up!

Show children how to divvy up or divide food as a character in their read-aloud. 

"Where’s Quack?" #2 (PEEP game)

Model how to play the game “Where’s Quack?” Ask children how the game is similar to when they went outdoors to find animal sounds.

Favorite Sounds

Have children draw pictures about their favorite sounds.  Ask questions about their drawings and write what they tell you under their picture.
