Children (3 - 5 years)

People—and many other animals—eat plants. Have fun with your child as he learns about the different plant parts people eat.

As you explore together and talk about the fruits, seeds, and vegetables you and your family eats, your child will begin to understand that all animals (including people) depend on plants. This can help him begin to form a connection to all living things and understand that living things need plants to survive.

You can begin your plant explorations right at home.

  • Explore how different foods taste.
  • Sort seeds by size, shape, color, etc.
  • Count berries or beans,
  • Describe colors or textures, and much more!

Together you can discover that there is a lot to discover and learn right at your kitchen table!
