Display the letter “Mm” card and show children how to use various materials to shape the uppercase and lowercase letters.

Help children make their own Abiyoyo puppets. Model how to draw eyes, a nose, and a mouth on a small paper bag or paper plate.
What’s That Sound? #1
Play recordings of children making sounds during the week and encourage them to paint the sources of the sound.
Abiyoyo Village
Invite children to recreate the setting of Abiyoyo, and retell the story using props. Help children construct the village and recreate the story with them.
Independent and Partner Reading, Unit 4, Week 1
Encourage children to select a book that interests them and to look at the words and pictures on their own or with other children.
One-on-One Reading: Abiyoyo #3
Read aloud Abiyoyo to individuals or small groups. Invite children to participate by repeating the word Zoop! and strumming their rubber-band guitars.
Join the Band #1
Invite children to form their own band, like Violet in the book Violet’s Music. Encourage children to name and talk about the different musical instruments.
Disappearing Objects Show
Invite children to put on their own magic show. Help them make connections to the book Abiyoyo.
Music Patterns
Play a musical pattern on toy instruments and have children say the pattern aloud with you as well as on their own.
Letter Molds (“Mm”)
Have children press“Mm” letter molds into the sand. Encourage them to use their fingers to make the letters in the sand as well.
“Sounds Like Fun” (PEEP game) #1
Demonstrate how to play the PEEP online game “Sounds like Fun.” Show children how to click on the animals to hear the sounds they make.
I Like to Make Music
Have children draw some of the ways they like to make music. Have children dictate a sentence to include at the bottom of the picture.
