Discuss colors and the idea that light changes the appearance of a color.

Have children explore what happens to light cast through different transparent objects.

Create a two-color hat and have children make predict what color they will see as you walk by.

Watch a Between the Lions video about two friends having a disagreement about colors.

Sing and act out a song about a hat of two colors.

Learn About Letters Together: Target Letter (“Rr”) and Word (red)

Introduce the letter “Rr” and the word red.

Learn About Letters Together: Sandpaper Writing (“Rr") #1

Help children begin to write the letter “Rr.”

Family Connection

Send a Family Connection letter home with children.

Write a group poem about different tones of skin color.

Have children identify words that begin with the letter “Rr.”
